RMIT’s advertising talk show ‘Hungry Talks’ is ready to call ACTION on the 2023 season

Are you an agency looking for insight into the perspective of young creatives? Hungry Talks is a student run talk show providing inspiration for curious minds alongside industry guests. Deep dive with the Hungry Talks team into the world of advertising AI, Super Bowl advertising, Barbie (obviously), strategy, and production, and help them answer the eternal young creative’s conundrum: have we sold our souls to the capitalist dream?

Hungry Talks is a student-run talk show run by a team of six advertising students, 19 cert IV screen and media students, and two supervisors, John Dingeldei and Chris Paterson. The 2023 team includes two hosts Charlie Borracci (above left) and Jaia Guildford-Carey (above right), writer Luca Battaglia, editor Simone Petrovski, marketing manager Steph Leong and creative producer Chelsea Addison. All six students are final year advertising majors who will be graduating later this year and participating in RMIT Pitch Night in October.

Each year, a new team of students host a range of the industry’s brightest minds. Industry guests confirmed for the 2023 season include Bec Robertson, managing partner, and Sasha Smith, chief media officer at Howatson+Company; Belle Kwan, account director and multicultural story-teller at CultureVerse, John Burgess, CEO and director of strategy, and Kelsey Dubar, marketing and events manager at First Nations owned and operated agency Little Rocket; Paul Reardon, chief creative officer at TBWA; Tyler Hamilton, conversational AI specialist lead at Deloitte Digital and Zoe Blochlinger, assistant production tinker, and Erin Beers, brand thinker at Thinkerbell.

Co-hosts Charlie Borracci and Jaia-Guildford-Carey perform in front of a live studio audience each week, with a series of pre-recorded segments, and live interviews with industry guests. To finish off each episode, the team presents the student viewers with a weekly Quick Brief, a concise AWARD school-inspired creative brief to practice their craft.
