TBWA takes out Network of the Year accolade in Campaign Brief’s The Work 2023: Ogilvy ranks #2, with DDB, BBDO + VMLY&R making up the top 5

TBWA has come up trumps as Network of the Year in Campaign Brief’s The Work 2023. It was a solid all round performance from TBWA with 9 offices contributing to their total of 90 Acceptances. They move up from #5 ranking in The Work 2022, having previously ranked #2 in 2021 and #4 in 2020.

 

With 90 Acceptances TBWA narrowly edged out Ogilvy, DDB and BBDO as Network of the Year. TBWA Santiago Mangada Puno Philippines and TBWA Australia, ranking at equal #15 in APAC, both had 19 Acceptances this year, followed by Creative Juice G1 Bangkok and TBWA Hakuhodo Tokyo with 13 Acceptances each. Other offices to make good contributions to their total were TBWA Singapore (9), TBWA Hong Kong (5), TBWA Shanghai (5), TBWA New Zealand (4) and TBWA Thailand (3).

Ogilvy, last year’s #1 ranked network in The Work, is placed in second position this year – 4 behind TBWA and just 1 Acceptance in front of the #3 ranked DDB.

Ogilvy’s strongest performing office was Ogilvy Thailand who contributed 32 of their total 86 Acceptances. The agency has been a consistent creative powerhouse in Campaign Brief’s The Work over the years, and this year ranked as the #1 creative agency in Asia and #2 ranked creative agency in the Asia Pacific region. Ogilvy also put in a strong performance with 22 Acceptances, which saw them rank equal #11 in Asia Pacific and the #1 agency in Taiwan. Ogilvy Australia also performed strongly with 19 Acceptances to their total. Always a consistent performer, Geometry Ogilvy Japan scored 10 Acceptances and Ogilvy New Zealand contributed with 3 Acceptances.

Just one Acceptance behind Ogilvy is DDB with a total of 85 Acceptances. Their #3 Network ranking in APAC is due to strong performances from DDB Australia (28 Acceptances), DDB Group New Zealand (23) and DDB Mudra Group India (22).

DDB Australia was one of the stars of The Work 2023, ranking #2 overall in Australia and #4 in APAC. DDB ranked #2 in New Zealand and equal $8 in APAC and DDB Mudra ranked #1 in India and at equal #11 in APAC. DDB Group Singapore makes a good contribution this year with 7 Acceptances and NAGA DDB Tribal Malaysia and DDB Tribal Philippines score 2 Acceptances each. With 1 Acceptance is DDB Group Hong Kong.

BBDO is ranked #4 Network this year, after ranking equal #3 last year and #1 in 2021. Their star performers were CHEP Network Australia (with 27 Acceptances) and BBDO Bangkok, jumping right back into the Asia Pacific Top 10 agency ranking with 23 Acceptances. The network also got an excellent result from Clemenger BBDO Australia with 16 entries accepted into The Work 2023. BBDO Guerrero Philippines scored 9 Acceptances and BBDO China and BBDO Singapore contributed 6 and 1 Acceptance respectively.

VMLY&R moved up two spots in The Work 2023 Network ranking. They sit at a clear #5 ranking with 69 acceptances overall. Their star performer is VMLY&R Australia, who was the best performing agency in Asia Pacific ranking #1 overall with 34 entries being accepted. Also making good contributions to their improved Network ranking were VMLY&R Thailand (18), VMLY&R New Zealand (10), VMLY&R Malaysia (6) and VMLY&R Singapore (1).

#6 Network this year is Dentsu with 53 Acceptances. Dentsu had 9 different offices contributing, lead by Dentsu Creative Taiwan, ranking #2 in Taiwan with 16 entries accepted. Dentsu Creative Philippines and Dentsu Redder Vietnam scored 10 Acceptances each with Dentsu One Bangkok (5), Dentsu Creative China (4) and Dentsu Creative Hong Kong (4) also successful.

Leo Burnett were the #7 highest ranked network with 42 Acceptances. Their performance was lead by a strong showing from Leo Burnett Thailand with 16 Acceptances. Leo Burnett Manila (9), Leo Burnett Kuala Lumpur (9), Beacon Communications Japan (6) and Leo Burnett Taiwan (2) also contributed.

Special Group ranks #8 Network with 31 entries accepted. Special New Zealand ranks #1 in New Zealand and #8 in APAC with 23 Acceptances. Special Australia scored 8.

Accenture Interactive is ranked at #9 based on the performances of The Monkeys Australia (22) and The Monkeys New Zealand (8).

And Wunderman Thompson has 3 offices contributing to their #10 position – Wunderman Thompson Taiwan (10), Wunderman Thompson Singapore and Wunderman Thompson Australia (7).
